Access to potable water for all

Scholar Lab is developing innovative devices to convert saline water into potable water, starting in the arid regions of Rajasthan and Gujarat. In collaboration with IIT Jodhpur, this initiative aims to provide affordable, accessible, and sustainable drinking water solutions to communities facing chronic water scarcity. With rising salinity levels and lack of reliable freshwater sources, this project is a step toward ensuring health, dignity, and resilience for vulnerable populations.

  • Challenge of Water Scarcity: Rural and desert communities in Rajasthan and Gujarat often face acute shortages of safe drinking water due to high salinity, poor groundwater quality, and limited freshwater sources.
  • Technology-Driven Solution: Scholar Lab, in collaboration with IIT Jodhpur, is designing devices that can cost-effectively desalinate water for household and community use.
  • Sustainable and Scalable Model: The devices are designed to be energy-efficient and adaptable across diverse geographies, making them replicable for other saline-prone areas in India.
  • Community Impact: By ensuring access to potable water, the project improves health outcomes, reduces migration pressure, and supports women and children who bear the burden of fetching water from distant sources.

Project Goal

To provide affordable potable water devices for communities in saline-prone regions of India, starting with Rajasthan and Gujarat, and to build a model that can be scaled nationwide to combat water insecurity.

Call for Support

We invite government bodies, CSR partners, NGOs, and donors to support this initiative. Together, we can provide safe drinking water to every household in water-stressed regions and ensure healthier, more resilient communities.
